Talented MCP Server

Connect Talented to ChatGPT and Claude so your AI assistant can work directly with your jobs, candidates, and interviews.

What is the Talented MCP server?

MCP (Model Context Protocol) is an open standard that lets AI assistants securely connect to outside tools and data. Adding the Talented MCP server gives ChatGPT or Claude a set of Talented tools — so you can look up candidates, manage pipelines, and run reports right from your chat. Access is authorized with your own Talented account through OAuth.

Set up in ChatGPT

You'll need access to ChatGPT on the web and permission to use Developer mode in your workspace.
  1. 1

    Open ChatGPT app settings

Go to chatgpt.com, open Settings, then select Apps. In some layouts this appears as Apps & Connectors or Connectors.

A direct link that may open the right panel: chatgpt.com/#settings/Connectors

ChatGPT settings open to the Apps panel, with Advanced settings and Create app highlighted
  2. 2

    Turn on Developer mode

In Apps & Connectors, open Advanced settings and turn on Developer mode. If ChatGPT shows an elevated-risk warning, read it and continue only if you trust the server.

If Developer mode is missing, a workspace admin or owner may need to enable it under Workspace Settings → Permissions & Roles → Connected Data.

  3. 3

    Create the Talented app

Back in Apps or Connectors, click Create app (or Create) and fill out the form using the settings above.

Leave Advanced OAuth settings alone unless your admin has given you specific values. Check the box acknowledging custom MCP server risk, then click Create.

  4. 4

    Complete OAuth authorization

If ChatGPT opens a Talented authorization page, sign in and approve the requested access, then return to ChatGPT.

Wait for ChatGPT to scan the server's tools. When setup succeeds, the app appears as a draft or enabled app, often with a Dev label.

  5. 5

    Use Talented in a chat

Start a new conversation, open the tools/apps menu near the message box (it may be behind the + button, then More), and select Talented.

    Example prompts:

    • “Use Talented to look up my account.”
    • “Use the Talented app to help me manage this workflow.”
    • “What tools are available in Talented?”

Troubleshooting

I don't see Create app

Turn on Developer mode first. If the option isn't available, ask a ChatGPT workspace admin or owner to enable custom MCP apps.

The connection fails

Check that the server URL is exactly https://mcp.talented.co/mcp, including /mcp, and that the server is reachable over HTTPS.

OAuth fails or loops

Try again in a fresh browser tab, make sure pop-ups are allowed, and confirm you're signing in with the correct Talented account.

The app creates, but no tools appear

Refresh the app/connector metadata in ChatGPT. If it still fails, the server may not be advertising tools correctly — contact support.

ChatGPT asks for confirmation before actions

That's expected. MCP apps can read or modify data, so ChatGPT may ask before running important actions.

Security note

Only connect MCP servers you trust. A custom MCP app can expose tools and data to your AI assistant and may be able to take actions depending on how the server is configured. The Talented MCP server only acts on the account you authorize through OAuth.
